Best Google Sheets Data Connectors in 2026: Tools Compared

Every reporting cycle starts the same way: export a CSV from each ad platform, paste it into a sheet, fix the formatting, and repeat next week.

Google Sheets data connectors automate that step. The built-in data connectors only cover BigQuery and Looker, so for ads, CRM, or ecommerce data you need an add-on or integration tool. This guide compares both kinds of data connectors: Google Sheets native options and third-party tools.

In this guide you'll find the main connector types, a side-by-side table, short reviews of eight tools, setup steps, and fixes for when connectors don't appear.

What are data connectors in Google Sheets?

A Google Sheets connector pulls data from an outside source into a sheet and refreshes it on a schedule. You set up the query once, and the numbers update without another export.

Data connectors in Google Sheets come in two forms:

Most connectors refresh on a schedule, from every few minutes to once a day, depending on the tool and plan. Don't expect real-time data in a spreadsheet.

Types of Google Sheets data connectors

Google Sheets data connectors fall into five groups. Which one fits depends on where your data lives and how much of it you need.

Native Connected Sheets (BigQuery and Looker)

Connected Sheets lets you query BigQuery tables or Looker models from a sheet. Since February 2024, it has been available to all Google Workspace customers and personal Google accounts.

The feature itself is free, but you need a Google Cloud project with BigQuery access, and BigQuery charges for the queries you run (the free BigQuery sandbox also works). For Google Sheets BigQuery work, this is the default option: you can analyze billions of rows with pivot tables, charts, and formulas without loading the whole table into the sheet.

Marketplace add-ons

Add-ons install from the Google Workspace Marketplace and open in a sidebar under Extensions. You pick a source, metrics, and a date range, and the add-on writes the results into a tab. Most focus on marketing data: Google Ads, Meta Ads, GA4, LinkedIn, TikTok, and similar.

Data integration platforms

These tools run outside Sheets in a web app. You connect sources there, blend and transform the data, then load it into Google Sheets (or a BI tool or warehouse) on a schedule. They usually cover more source categories than add-ons, including CRMs, accounting, and ecommerce.

Workflow automation tools

Zapier and Make work on events: a new deal, form submission, or order triggers a new row. They write data row by row. That suits ongoing logs, but not bulk reporting imports or historical backfills.

API connectors and Apps Script

If a source has a REST API, you can call it from Sheets with an API connector add-on or your own Google Apps Script. This covers almost any tool, including niche ones. The trade-off is maintenance: you handle authentication, pagination, and API changes yourself.

Top Google Sheets data connectors reviewed

Each review covers the same points so you can compare the Google Sheets data connectors side by side.

Connected Sheets (native)

Connected Sheets is Google's built-in connector for BigQuery and Looker, found under Data > Data connectors. The sheet shows a 500-row preview, while pivot tables, charts, and formulas run against the full BigQuery table. Pivot tables can return up to 200,000 rows, and extracts up to 500,000 rows.

Refresh
Manual or scheduled; scheduled refreshes run as the person who set them up.
Standout featureYou can analyze billions of rows without moving the data out of BigQuery.
Keep in mindIt doesn't connect to ad platforms or CRMs directly. That data has to reach BigQuery first.

Best for: teams that already store data in BigQuery or Looker.

Coupler.io

Coupler.io is a data integration and AI analytics platform that connects 400+ sources, from ad platforms and CRMs to accounting and ecommerce tools. Its Google Sheets connector loads that data into your spreadsheet on a schedule.

You can set it up with the Coupler.io add-on right in Sheets, or describe the report you need to Coupler AI, and it helps build the data flow. The same data can also go to Excel, BigQuery, Looker Studio, Power BI, or AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT. You can filter, join, or aggregate data along the way, and free dashboard templates for Google Sheets give you a starting point for PPC, Shopify, or finance reporting.

Starting price
Starter at $24/month billed annually ($32 monthly) for 3 accounts, 1 destination, and 5,000 rows per run.
Refresh
Daily on Starter, hourly on Pro, every 15 minutes on Custom.
Standout featureOne data flow can join or append data from several sources before it lands in your sheet.
Keep in mindHourly refresh starts on the Pro plan ($199/month billed annually). On the other hand, plans are priced by connected accounts, with no listed limit on data flows, so one account can feed several reports.

Best for: teams that want reporting templates and AI on top of a scheduled connector.

Supermetrics

Supermetrics is a marketing data add-on with over 170 connectors across ads, analytics, social, and public data. You build a query in the sidebar and schedule it. Besides Sheets, it loads into Looker Studio, Excel, and data warehouses (warehouses on Enterprise).

Starting price
Starter at $44/month billed annually ($55 monthly) for 3 sources, 1 user, and 3 accounts per source.
Refresh
Hourly, daily, or weekly depending on plan; up to 5 scheduled refreshes per file.
Standout featureThe largest marketing-only catalog in this list, plus 30+ free report templates.
Keep in mindCost grows with each source, user, and destination, and 39 premium connectors are sold separately.

Best for: marketing teams that report across many ad platforms.

Porter Metrics

Porter Metrics is a marketing connector for small teams and agencies, with 30+ integrations across paid media, social, CRM, email, ecommerce, and SEO. It also loads data into Looker Studio, Power BI, and BigQuery.

Starting price

Refresh
Hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly, plus manual refresh.
Standout featureA Query tab in the add-on where you request data in plain language.
Keep in mindThe source list is narrower than larger tools, and per-account pricing adds up as you add clients.

Best for: small teams that pull from a few marketing accounts.

Two Minute Reports

Two Minute Reports is an add-on for Google Sheets and Looker Studio with 30+ marketing sources, including Google Ads, Meta Ads, GA4, HubSpot, and Shopify. It's built around agency work: client grouping, branded reports, and budget tracking.

Starting price
Lite at $970/year (about $81/month) or $97 monthly, with up to 3 accounts per source and unlimited users.
Refresh
Hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly on all plans, with unlimited scheduled refreshes.
Standout featureClient grouping, branded reports, and budget tracking built for agency work.
Keep in mindIt covers marketing sources only, and a second destination costs extra.

Best for: agencies that manage reporting for many clients.

Dataslayer

Dataslayer is a marketing connector with 50+ sources that works as a Sheets add-on and a web app. Its standout is destination range: Google Sheets, Excel, Looker Studio, Power BI, BigQuery, Snowflake, and more.

Starting price
Starter at $35/month billed annually ($39 monthly) for 3 connectors and 1 user.
Refresh
One manual refresh per day on Free, daily on Starter, hourly on Advanced and up.
Standout featureISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications, useful if your team has security reviews.
Keep in mindYou pay by number of connectors, and warehouse destinations have monthly row caps.

Best for: teams sending the same marketing data to several tools.

API Connector by Mixed Analytics

API Connector is a Sheets add-on that pulls data from any REST API using an API key or OAuth. It includes presets for 100+ apps, and you can reference cell values in requests.

Starting price
Starter at $12/month billed annually ($15 monthly) for 2,500 requests a month.
Refresh
No scheduling on Free, daily on Starter, hourly on Business and Team.
Standout featureRequests can reference cell values, so one sheet can drive many API calls.
Keep in mindYou need to understand endpoints, authentication, and JSON, and each page of a paginated response counts as a request.

Best for: sources that no other connector supports.

Zapier

Zapier connects 9,000+ apps through event-based workflows. A common Sheets setup: a new deal in HubSpot triggers Create Spreadsheet Row, so each deal lands as a new row.

Starting price
Professional from $19.99/month billed annually, $29.99 monthly.
Refresh
Event-based; Zapier checks for new data every 15 minutes on Free, every 2 minutes on Professional, and every minute on Team.
Standout featureInstant triggers for some apps, so a new HubSpot deal reaches the sheet right away.
Keep in mindEach row written counts as a task, so high volumes get expensive, and it doesn't backfill historical data.

Best for: logging new records (CRM deals, form entries, orders) as they happen.

How to set up a data connector in Google Sheets

The steps are similar for most add-ons. Exact menu names vary by tool.

  1. Install the connector. In your sheet, go to Extensions > Add-ons > Get add-ons, search for the tool, and install it. For BigQuery or Looker, open Data > Data connectors instead.
  2. Open it and sign in to the source. Launch the add-on from the Extensions menu and authorize access to your ad account, CRM, or other source.
  3. Choose what to pull. Select the account, metrics, dimensions, and a dynamic date range such as "last 30 days" so the report rolls forward on its own.
  4. Import into a raw data tab. Run the query and send the results to a dedicated tab.
  5. Schedule the refresh. Match the schedule to your reporting cycle: daily for weekly reports, hourly only if someone checks the numbers during the day.

Tip: leave raw data tabs untouched. Build summaries, pivot tables, and calculated columns on separate tabs so a refresh never overwrites your formulas.

FAQ

Are Google Sheets data connectors free?

Some are. Connected Sheets is free to use, though BigQuery charges for queries. Porter Metrics, Coupler.io, Dataslayer, API Connector, and Zapier have free plans with limits on sources, rows, or refreshes. Supermetrics and Two Minute Reports offer 14-day trials only.

How often do Google Sheets connectors refresh data?

It depends on the tool and plan. Entry plans usually refresh daily, mid-tier plans hourly, and a few tools go down to every 15 minutes. Free plans often allow manual refresh only.

How much data can a connector pull into Google Sheets?

A spreadsheet holds up to 20 million cells, up from 10 million before September 2026. Connected Sheets works around this by keeping the data in BigQuery: extracts return up to 500,000 rows and pivot tables up to 200,000 rows.

Can I connect my CRM to Google Sheets?

Yes. Integration platforms such as Coupler.io import full CRM tables (deals, contacts, companies) from HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, and others on a schedule. If you only need new records added as they appear, Zapier can write each new deal as a row.

Which Google Sheets data connector should you pick?

Start with where your data lives and how often it needs to update. If it's already in BigQuery or Looker, use Connected Sheets.

For marketing and CRM data, compare add-ons and integration platforms by source coverage and the refresh frequency you get on the plan you can afford. For records that should land in a sheet the moment they're created, use an automation tool like Zapier.
