Best ChatGPT Data Connectors in 2026: Built-In Apps and Third-Party Tools
ChatGPT can already search your Google Drive, draft replies from your inbox and pull deals from HubSpot. Ad data is harder to reach. There's no OpenAI-built app for Google Ads, Meta Ads or GA4, so those numbers arrive through vendor plugins, MCP servers or a data integration tool.
This guide covers both sides of ChatGPT data connectors: the built-in apps worth enabling and the third-party tools that bring marketing data into chats. It also shows which plans unlock what, and how to add each type.
What are ChatGPT connectors? Apps, plugins and MCP explained
OpenAI changed how this feature works twice in under a year: connectors became apps, then apps were grouped into plugins. That’s why the terms still appear side by side in guides and settings menus:
- Connectors. The original name for the links between ChatGPT and tools like Google Drive or SharePoint.
- Apps. On December 18, 2025, OpenAI launched an app directory, and existing connectors started appearing there as apps. An app is still the actual connection to an outside service.
- Plugins. On July 9, 2026, the Plugin Directory replaced the App Directory. A plugin can bundle apps, skills (reusable instructions) and app templates. Some contain only skills. Existing app connections kept working.
These plugins have nothing to do with the original 2023 ChatGPT plugins, which OpenAI retired in 2024. In September 2026, OpenAI also announced that custom GPTs will be retired, with a migration path to plugins.
Once an app is connected, ChatGPT can use it in three places:
- Regular chats. You pick the app with @ or from the + menu, and ChatGPT searches it for the answer.
- Deep research. Supported apps work as sources next to the web. Custom apps are limited to read and fetch here.
- Company knowledge. On Business, Enterprise and Edu, ChatGPT searches across supported connected apps at once, including custom MCP apps, cites its sources and respects each user’s permissions.
Some apps also support write actions: sending an email, updating a HubSpot deal, creating a Jira issue. Under Settings > Apps, you choose whether ChatGPT always asks first, allows read actions, allows low-risk actions, or allows all actions. The default is low-risk actions.
Built-in, vendor-built and custom: three kinds of connectors in ChatGPT
Who builds one of these ChatGPT connectors decides who supports it, which plans can use it, and how much setup it takes.
OpenAI's built-in apps
OpenAI maintains apps for common workplace tools, including Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, SharePoint, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Notion, Box, Dropbox and GitHub. Some of them, like Google Drive, sync your content into an index, so ChatGPT doesn't query the source on every question.
Vendor apps from the plugin directory
Software companies publish their own apps in the directory. Examples include HubSpot, Salesforce, Atlassian (Jira and Confluence), Canva, Figma and Airtable, plus data tools such as Coupler.io, Windsor.ai and Funnel. The vendor handles support, and most apps need an account with that vendor.
ChatGPT custom connectors (MCP servers)
Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard for connecting AI tools to data and actions. Any service with a remote MCP server can be added in developer mode: you paste the server URL, sign in if asked, and ChatGPT lists the tools the server exposes. OpenAI doesn't verify ChatGPT custom MCP connectors, so checking them is your team's job.
| Type | Built by | Write actions | Setup effort | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Built-in apps | OpenAI | Some apps; often off until an admin enables them | Low | Files, email, calendars, team chat |
| Vendor apps | The software vendor | Depends on the app | Low | CRM, design tools, marketing data |
| Custom MCP connectors | You, or a vendor that publishes an MCP URL | Business, Enterprise and Edu only | Medium | Sources with no listed app, internal tools |
What each ChatGPT plan includes
The Plugin Directory is available across ChatGPT plans (some accounts still see it labeled Apps), but individual ChatGPT connectors may depend on your plan, region and workspace settings.
| Plan | Custom MCP in developer mode | Admin controls | Data from apps used for training |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free, Go, Plus | Not listed in OpenAI's docs | None | Possible if "Improve the model for everyone" is on |
| Pro | Read and fetch only | None | Possible if "Improve the model for everyone" is on |
| Business | Read and write (beta) | Apps, actions | Not by default |
| Enterprise, Edu | Read and write (beta) | Apps, actions, role-based access | Not by default |
ChatGPT Business connectors are enabled by default, and admins can turn individual apps or actions off. ChatGPT Enterprise connectors work the other way: a new workspace starts with a selected set, and new apps stay off until an admin enables them. Some features also need a paid plan. Sending email from Gmail or Outlook works on the web on Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise, for example.
Gaps for marketing data
There's no OpenAI-built app for Google Ads, GA4, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads or TikTok Ads, on consumer plans or among ChatGPT Enterprise data connectors. That leaves three routes:
- Platform-built MCP servers. Meta launched its Meta Ads AI Connectors in open beta on April 29, 2026, with read and write access to campaigns. Google’s Google Ads MCP server is open source and read-only, and you host it yourself.
- Vendor apps from data integration tools, which cover dozens to hundreds of sources through one connection.
- A spreadsheet in between. You load the data into Google Sheets on a schedule and let ChatGPT read the file through the Google Drive app.

Ready-made ChatGPT connectors for marketing teams
These built-in ChatGPT connectors from OpenAI cover the documents and conversations behind most campaigns.
Google Drive, Docs and Sheets
One Google Drive app now handles Docs, Sheets and Slides, which no longer appear as separate apps. On Pro you set it up yourself; on Business and Enterprise an admin does. The first sync can take from a few hours to a few days.
Best for: reports, briefs and exported data your team already keeps in Drive.
Gmail and Google Calendar
ChatGPT can search threads, draft replies and, on Plus or higher, send email from the chat. Calendar supports write actions too, and you can connect several Google accounts at once.
Best for: partner follow-ups, campaign threads and scheduling.
SharePoint, OneDrive and Microsoft Teams
The SharePoint app searches SharePoint and OneDrive for work or school content. Personal OneDrive accounts aren't supported. Teams has its own app.
Best for: teams on Microsoft 365.
Notion and Slack
Notion can sync your workspace pages, and Slack is one of the sources company knowledge searches on Business and Enterprise. Together they let ChatGPT answer from wiki pages and channel history.
Other apps marketers use include Canva, Figma, Airtable, Jira, GitHub, Dropbox and Box.
Best for: campaign plans, retros and decisions spread across docs and chat.
Best ChatGPT connectors for marketing and business data
These ChatGPT data connectors fill the gap for ad, analytics and ecommerce sources, plus the CRM apps most marketing teams already use. Most offer both a directory app and an MCP server, so they also work in other AI tools.
Coupler.io
Coupler.io is a data integration and AI analytics platform listed in the plugin directory that connects 400+ business apps (e.g. Google Ads, Facebook Ads, HubSpot), and prepares that data for reports and AI analysis.
You start with the report or analysis you need, such as "Compare last month's ad spend and leads by channel." Coupler AI connects the sources and builds the data flow, directly in a ChatGPT conversation. If a source account isn’t authorized yet, ChatGPT gives you a link to connect it. Ask follow-up questions in the same chat, like "Which campaigns drove the drop in leads?” Coupler.io runs the calculation against your data, and ChatGPT explains the result.
- Pricing
- Free plan with manual refresh; Coupler AI is included in paid plans, from $24/mo billed annually ($32 monthly); 7-day trial.
Best for: questions that need several sources in one dataset, such as spend, leads and revenue by channel.
Windsor.ai
Windsor.ai publishes ChatGPT plugins for individual platforms, such as Google Ads, built on its MCP server. It covers 350+ sources, and MCP access is included on every plan. The Google Ads plugin can also create, pause and update campaigns after you confirm.
- Pricing
- 30-day trial, then a free plan with one source; paid plans from $19/mo billed annually ($23 monthly) for three sources.
Best for: ad managers who want to analyze and adjust campaigns in the same chat.
Supermetrics
Supermetrics is available from Plugins in ChatGPT and offers 170+ sources for AI chats. You can ask it to pause campaigns or shift budget, review the proposed change, and revert it later from Campaign history in Supermetrics Hub.
- Pricing
- ChatGPT counts as one core destination on Starter, from $44/mo billed annually ($55 monthly); 14-day trial.
Best for: teams that already report with Supermetrics in Sheets or Looker Studio.
Porter Metrics
Porter Metrics offers a ChatGPT app and an MCP URL you can add as one of your ChatGPT custom connectors. It covers 30+ marketing sources, and the MCP is included on every plan, free included. Actions such as creating a campaign use automation credits.
- Pricing
- Free plan after a 14-day trial, with 15 days of history in AI chats and 100 automation credits a month; paid plans from $12.50 per account/mo billed annually.
Best for: freelancers and small teams with a handful of ad accounts.
Funnel
Funnel is an official app in the ChatGPT directory and also offers an MCP server. It reads from your Funnel data hub, which advertises 600+ sources on Enterprise. Funnel Measure customers can query attribution and media mix results too.
- Pricing
- Starter from $300/mo billed annually with 117 connectors; 30-day trial.
Best for: larger teams and agencies that already centralize data in Funnel.
Zapier MCP
Zapier links ChatGPT to 9,000+ apps. Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces can install it from Plugins; on other plans with developer mode, you add its MCP URL yourself. It works with apps like Google Sheets, Slack and Airtable, mostly to take actions.
- Pricing
- MCP is included on all Zapier plans; each tool call uses two tasks. Free plan with 100 tasks a month; Professional from $19.99/mo billed annually.
Best for: actions such as logging a lead, posting a Slack update or adding a sheet row.
HubSpot and Salesforce
HubSpot's app reads contacts, deals, campaigns, landing pages and marketing emails. It can also create or update records, up to 10 at a time, and it works on all HubSpot plans. Salesforce launched its ChatGPT app in open beta in December 2025, with lead and opportunity lookups and updates.
Best for: pipeline questions and CRM updates without switching tabs.
How to add connectors to ChatGPT
How you set up connectors in ChatGPT depends on whether the app is listed in the directory or you're adding an MCP server yourself.
Installing an app from the plugin directory
- Open Plugins in the ChatGPT sidebar and search for the tool.
- Select it and review which apps it includes.
- Click Install plugin, then Connect if prompted.
- Sign in to the tool and review the permissions it requests.
- In a new chat, pick the app with @ or from the + menu and ask your question.
Some third-party data tools also need the source side set up. With Coupler.io, you describe the data you need, and Coupler AI sets up the flow in Coupler.io or from ChatGPT once the app is connected. On Business and Enterprise, an admin may need to enable the app before it appears.
Adding a custom MCP connector
- Turn on developer mode in ChatGPT settings. On Business, Enterprise and Edu, an admin may need to grant you access first.
- Create a new app and paste the MCP server URL from the vendor or your developers.
- Choose the authentication method (OAuth if the server uses it), scan the tools, and click Create.
- The app is saved as a private draft. A workspace owner or admin can publish it to the rest of the team.
ChatGPT MCP connectors you add this way work on the web only, not in the mobile apps. ChatGPT connects to remote servers, so a server running on your own machine needs a secure tunnel.
Security checks before you connect a work account
A connected app can see whatever your login can see, and some can change it. Run through these points first:
- Grant least-privilege access. Connect an account or role with only the data ChatGPT needs, such as a read-only ad account user.
- Keep confirmations on. The "Allow all actions" setting lets supported write actions run without a second check. Leave it off for apps that send email or edit campaigns.
- Watch for prompt injection. Text inside an email, file or web page can carry hidden instructions. OpenAI notes that its safeguards reduce this risk without removing it, especially with untrusted MCP servers.
- Vet custom apps. OpenAI doesn't review them, so check who runs the server and what tools it exposes.
- Set workspace defaults. On Business, Enterprise and Edu, admins can allow all new actions, only new read actions, or none. Enterprise and Edu admins can also limit plugins to specific roles.
FAQ
Can ChatGPT connectors refresh data automatically?
Partly. Synced ChatGPT connectors such as Google Drive pick up changes after the first sync, and supported plugins can start an automation when a connected app changes. Third-party data tools follow their own refresh schedule, set by plan.
Is there a full ChatGPT connectors list?
The current list lives in the Plugin Directory inside ChatGPT, and OpenAI publishes plugin pages on its business site. What you see depends on your plan, region and workspace settings, so any published ChatGPT connectors list may not match your account.
Matching a connector to where your data lives
The best connectors for ChatGPT depend on what your team already uses. If your reports and briefs sit in Google Drive or SharePoint, the built-in apps cover most questions at no extra cost. For CRM work, the HubSpot or Salesforce app is the shortest path.
For ad and analytics data, pick ChatGPT data connectors by the job. Coupler.io and Funnel suit questions that combine several sources. Windsor.ai, Supermetrics and Porter Metrics also let you change campaigns from the chat. Zapier fits small actions across many apps. If no app exists for a source, a custom MCP connector on Business or Enterprise is the remaining option.
